ICE-BREAKERS

About a month ago Kimberly and I volunteered to lead Ice Breakers for our youth group on Wednesday nights. We both knew we would enjoy it, but I don’t think either of us knew how much. The first week we kept things pretty simple. We ran in, did a little hoopin’ and hollerin’, got everyone pumped up, played the game and that was pretty much it. Needless to say we were a hit and pretty pumped. The next week we wanted theme music and were quickly masterminding a plan. I guess we must have been feeling a little sporty because we decided to come in to (blast from the past here) Jock Jams- Get Ready to Rumble. By this point we were calling ourselves the Glory Girls only to find out that the youth had deemed us the Woooo Girls. Guess we must have hooped and hollered a little too much that first week. Not to be boastful, but week two was also a success. And now the story behind the picture. Not wanting to be outdone by our own success and wanting to keep it fresh….. this week our theme music was….. (drum roll please)…... the Bonanza theme song. Decked our in our husbands western shirts, our best western hats and our trusty side kicks we came riding we with a YEEEE-HAW!

I am sure that these kids think we are only one day away from being the crazy cat ladies (I know at that age I would have), but man am I enjoying myself. After turning 26 in January I have started to come to the realization that I’m not exactly a “Spring Chicken” anymore. However, these few crazy nights have made me feel a few years younger and have even been a little therapeutic. I am thinking that I will stick with this for as long as I am allowed…… I am sure our props are cheaper than therapy.

Just in case you are wondering how we tied the game into our theme…. stick pony relay. Kimberly was kind enough to bring us a couple of 5 gallon buckets (fresh from the farm) and a few cones. After hoping on a pony they were to weave through the cones, stop and put on the hat, circle around the bucket (just like a barrel racer) and head for home.

At the end of the night Braley and Charlee even took a ride our trusty side kicks.

Why not go ahead and throw in these little angels latest school story here. Tuesday night Braley told me “Mama today at school Charlee pinched me on the neck”. My immediate response “Braley were you pinching Charlee”? And in the honest words of a two year old…. “Well (short pause) I was trying to but she wouldn’t let me”.

I am so jealous! Ashley, it sounds like y'all are having a great time. I could use some humor therapy myself. As for the birthdays, I told Adam yesterday that 24 was my last great birthday, so I might just keep right on telling people I'm 24! ha ha

Braley is too much! I love the Charlee and Braley stories. Those girls are trouble!
