Little Miss Independent

As I previously posted, my BG (big girl) has went to school like a champ. I feel very fortunate that Braley enjoys school and hasn’t cried one tear since starting. Feel the but coming? But, could she at least pretend (for my sake) that she needs me?

Here is the story I got from Braley’s teacher yesterday. Just to bring you up to speed on how the conversation took place….. our current unit is on families, during this time we talk about parents, siblings, and all the factors that make a family. Anyway, back to the topic. Yesterday during circle Mrs. Wendy was talking to the class about why not to cry when you get dropped off. She gave the speech about making friends, Mama/Daddy still love you, they are gonna come back. This is when my child decides to raise her hand. When called upon, her comment is “I don’t cry” Mrs. Christy tells her “No, I don’t think I have ever seen you cry”……. (and the kicker) … Braley responds, “Well, I don’t miss my Mama”.

Um, could some body tell me where I have gone wrong? I am a good Mama, but my child is just happy to go her own way. Lord, she is only 3, but my goodness is she independent.

While on the subject of my lippy daughter, let me share encounter number two with the principle. Mr. Deen goes to introduce Sweet Cheeks to the guidance counselor (who just happens to have been my 6th grade math teacher). Mrs. Smith, this is Braley, she and I go to church together. Miss Independent, serious 3 year old, looks up and replies, “I don’t go to church with you. I go to church with my Mama & Daddy”. Now how is that for common sense? J

Needless to say there is never a dull moment and you never really know just what might come out of Braley’s mouth. Between her and her 5, yes 5 imaginary friends there is always something going on. Have you ever had to referee a fight between you child and their imaginary friend?

p.s. I still remember my imaginary friend's name...his name (yes, it was a him)...John Rigley.
Yes..he had a first AND a last name.

Well, in a few more years you just keep that little Nolan on that side of the county line. While he is a cutie.....the two of them could be trouble (does anybody else think of the old Travis Tritt song when you spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E)

I bet your momma is laughing big time! You are totally being paid back for everything you did to her and then some huh? I'm impressed she can keep up with 5 imaginary friends!
