Potty Mouth...... a whole new meaning to the phrase

NewImage

I think that those who know me well would agree that I am a little bit of a clean freak. So you can only imagine how completely mortified I was to learn that my sweet girl had a run in with her toothbrush and the toilet...... hold on to your seats girls, this is a story for the books.

On a Friday afternoon I casually stroll into Braley's room to get her backpack and leave in total disbelief and shock. As I am gathering up Braley's things her teacher walks over and says she is sending her toothbrush home. (Feel the need for a little back story here.... When Brandon and Braley came in from her parent night he informed me that she would need a toothbrush. Apparently her class brushes their teeth after lunch. I was not really fond of this idea but against my better judgement went along with it) Okay, back to that Friday afternoon. As her teacher hands me the toothbrush, I asked if they are done brushing teeth for the year or if they will do it again at a later date.... sensible question, right? Here is where the conversation goes down hill and you get the look from the teacher that your child has been less than perfect that day..........

Teacher:  Braley and her friend had a little issue with their toothbrushes today and you'll probably want to get her a new one.

Me: What, did they use each others toothbrushes (laughing because I know the other kid)

Teacher: Not quite, they stuck their toothbrushes in the toilet. (smile begins to fade from my face)

Me: Oh, well we don't need that back, you can just throw it away.

So I leave the room a little mortified but thinking it's not the end of the world, until I sit Braley down and start talking to her. As the story begins to unfold I quickly realize that the teachers didn't catch this until after the girl had brushed their teeth. Yes, you read that right. My child stuck her toothbrush into the toilet and THEN brushed her teeth. As I begin to question her about it she says " Mama, I rinsed it off before I brushed." So comforting. She isn't smart enough to not stick her toothbrush into the toilet but has the sense to rinse it off before she brushes. As we continue to talk, I tell her that I had her teacher throw her toothbrush away and that she will no longer be brushing her teeth at school. This is when she tells me that they microwaved it to kill the germs. Yep, story just kept getting better with ever breath.

You get the point of what happened so I will spare you the rest of the conversation. I spent the rest of that evening in disbelief and shock that my sweet girl would do such a thing. My mother was quick to assure me that this wouldn't be the last time I was in shock or something Braley had done.
