One week down

Whew, I can’t believe that summer is over and that the first week of school has came and went. What is even hard to phantom is that my “Baby” has started PreK. I use the term baby very lightly as it is becoming more and more evident everyday that she is turning into a big girl. Can anyone tell me where the time goes? In my mind I just had her yesterday…. When did 3 ½ years pass?

Needless to say, Braley has loved school and lucky for me was one of the only kids in her room not to cry. My heart always breaks for the Mama’s who have to leave those poor crying babies. The teacher side of me can promise you that it is truly worse on the parent than the child. Mrs. Christy and Mrs. Wendy have named Braley the classroom Mama, as she is quick to take charge and give out directions….guess who was line leader on Day 1? My K teacher, who still teaches at the same school, says in that room it is Mrs. Christy, Mrs. Wendy and Braley….she may just know us well. They have also decided that Braley is much to grown for her 3 years of age. They say some days it feel as if they are having a conversation with an adult…… that is the sign of an only child.

Oh, while we are talking about firsts….we can also cross our first snack day and bus ride off the list. You know I didn’t send Braley in with store bought cookies and juice. She and I made Elmo cupcakes. Looking back I wish I had done a few things differently with these, but we have the rest of the year to top them. (The “Classroom Mama” war is on…. Team Hines or Team McKenzie……. Kim you had better find your site) And yes I said bus ride.... Braley was more than excited to ride the bus to Pappy's house. Now understand that her bus driver was my bus driver, one of my Mama's best friends from high school, and my parent's house is the first stop.

After a wonderful first week of school I am excited about what the year holds for us.

Sorry the pictures aren’t the best, but they are the only ones I have with me. The majority of them were taken on Mama’s camera and I haven’t had time to get them off.
