Braley says the darn-dest things

IMG 1364

The other night I was flipping thru the channels and stopped on Toddlers & Tiaras. A little girl dressed in barely nothing was dancing across the stage when Braley looks at me and says "Mama that little girl looks like the H-word" intrigued by what the H word was I asked. Her response was "hoochie-mama"   I can honestly say I had some mixed emotions over her comment. On one hand I am glad my little girl thinks it's inappropriate for children to dress like that, but am still baffled at how she knows the word hoochie- mama.

After a recent hair appointment Braley informed me that she was hungry and ask if I would take her to Bevs. I told her they had already closed.... her response.... They aren't a very sophisticated restaurant.

During a trip to the mall, Braley and Mammy stopped to get their toes painted. Braley chose a pretty pink and wanted a flower on her big toe. Mom said after painting them the women pulled out black and proceeded to paint a Japanese cherry blossom on them. She said you could tell by the look on Braley's face that she was not liking it. When mom asked her if it was okay..... Braley turned to her and said "Mammy, I don't like weeds." The people were very nice and repainted a pretty white flower.

On another outing Braley got a pair of blue and khaki Sperry style shoes. When describing these shoes to her Daddy over the phone.... she told him they were "blue & tacky."

On the way home the other night Braley asked me if I knew the end of a shoe lace was called an aglet. I googled it, she's right. And no I didn't know that. Guessing most of you didn't either.

An aglet (or aiglet) is a small plastic or metal sheath typically used on each end of a, shoelace, cord, or drawstring                                                             An aglet keeps the fibers of the lace or cord from unraveling; its firmness and narrow profile make it easier to hold                                                               and easier to feed through the eyelets,  lugs, or other lacing guides.

When your child's teacher approaches you and says I have to tell you what Braley said today, you cringe- especially if that kid happens to be Braley.

Seems that most the class forgot to take their folders out and place them on the shelf the other morning. Mrs. P decided that she was going                   to reward those who did with a vanilla tootsie-roll. When she gets to Braley, she tells her that she's sorry she doesn't get a treat today but                       that if she puts her folder up next time she might get something special. (Little Ashley just can't take her punishment and move on... has to                     get the  last dig in. ) Mrs. P said Braley looked up at her as calm as could be and says " That's okay Mrs. P, I really don't like the white tootsie-               rolls."

This isn't the first time she has outsmarted someone. Over Christmas she and my brother were having a little tift...... which they commonly do. Being close to Christmas, Adam told her that if she didn't straighten up Santa wouldn't come see her. After thinking about his comment for a moment, she told him that it would be okay because Pappy would take her to Wal-Mart.

Pray for me girls. She's only 5 and I am already facing paybacks.

I could just listen to her for hours! Nothing beats though, her pulling her pants to show the principal her bite!
